SEOUL, Jan. 19 (Korea Bizwire) – SK hynix Inc. said Monday its automotive dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) chip has received a top safety rating from a German technical service organization, underscoring its reliability for vehicles’ autopilot systems and other safety-related features.
The South Korean chipmaker said its LPDDR5X automotive DRAM has obtained the Automotive Safety Integrity Level D (ASIL-D) certification following an evaluation conducted by Germany-based TUV SUD.
ASIL-D is the highest safety grade under the four-tier classification for the automotive industry defined by the International Organization for Standardization.
SK hynix said the certification validates the chip meeting the performance requirements of vehicles equipped with autopilot and advanced driver assistance systems.
“Based on the ASIL-D certification, the company plans to continue providing memory solutions that users can rely on in the self-driving and future mobility sector,” SK hynix said in a release.
