SK Hynix’s “New Code of Conduct” Videos Go Viral with 15 Million Views

SEOUL, Sept. 7 (Korea Bizwire) — SK Hynix announced on Wednesday the remarkable success of its “New Code of Conduct” video series, which garnered an impressive 15.18 million views in just over a month on YouTube.

Previously, the company had introduced short-form ESG campaign content titled “We Do Green Technology” and the captivating “TOP 6 Animals on Earth” series, both of which received accolades at relevant awards ceremonies.

The genesis of SK Hynix’s “New Code of Conduct” dates back to March when the company decided to put into action its core value of “Happier with Ultra-Technology.” In pursuit of this goal, SK Hynix crafted a concise set of six behavioral guidelines, which were subsequently released on YouTube in late July.

What sets SK Hynix’s new Code of Conduct apart is its origin: it was developed collaboratively by all employees. Initially, the company conducted interviews with executives and staff to gather a wealth of insights into the strengths and areas of improvement within the company’s corporate culture.

This trove of information was then subjected to rigorous data analysis, which unearthed keywords defining employees’ work styles, attitudes, language, and expressions.

The impact of this new Code of Conduct is tangible, as it has resulted in enhanced performance among employees. In a creative analogy, the video likens the culture of data-driven decision-making to a baseball game.

It portrays a batter repeatedly swinging for the fences and hitting home runs, thanks to the valuable data contributions from SK Hynix employees.

Notably, the video introduces engaging concepts like stacking stairs to reach heights exceeding 1,000 floors (NAND stacking), folding a piece of paper to condense more information per unit area (DRAM miniaturization), and maximizing storage capacity. These concepts are presented in an entertaining manner reminiscent of the beloved “Super Mario” game.

Viewers of the YouTube video have showered it with positive comments, describing it as a delightful and accessible means of explaining a corporate philosophy that can often be clichéd. Some even mistook it for a game due to its innovative approach. SK Hynix is reportedly thrilled with the enthusiastic reception of its initiative.
