SEOUL, Sept. 28 (Korea Bizwire) – SK Innovation announced on Wednesday that the Great Music Festival (GMF) for individuals with developmental disabilities, the largest of its kind in South Korea, was held at the New Millennial Hall of Konkuk University on September 26.
This year marks the seventh anniversary of the GMF, hosted by the Heart to Heart Foundation and sponsored by SK Innovation, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, SM Entertainment and the Community Chest of Korea.
A total of 285 performers from 30 teams participated in the preliminary round, from which six teams in classical music and two teams in applied music advanced to the final round.
The team ‘Parasol Clarinet Ensemble’ won the grand prize, receiving the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award and a prize of 10 million won. The team ‘Nepes Lua Chamber Orchestra’ won an excellence award, while the teams ‘String K’ and ‘The Avec Ensemble’ received outstanding awards and the teams ‘Mosaic’ and ‘Aria Nanta’ won encouragement awards.
SK Innovation plans to elevate the GMF into a global event and is scheduled to host the ‘Great Music Festival in Atlanta’ at the Lawrenceville Art Center on October 15. This will mark the first time a GMF event is held overseas.
Lim Soo-kil, the head of the Value Creation Center at SK Innovation, said, “We will spare no effort in providing support for the expansion of social value, not only for individuals with developmental disabilities but also in a wider range of areas.”
