SEOUL, Oct. 21 (Korea Bizwire) — SK Innovation Co., South Korea’s largest oil refinery, said Thursday it will introduce cutting-edge robots at the Ulsan industrial complex, or Ulsan CLX, the company’s flagship refining factory site in the southeastern port city.
The new robots at Ulsan CLX include a four-legged walking robot called SPOT as well as Guardian S, which crawls like a snake.
SPOT comes with visual, hearing and cognition features, and is capable of grabbing and moving objects.
Guardian S can crawl straight as well as in an S pattern. Its magnetic body enables it to crawl up metal walls and stairs.
Both robots are equipped with cameras, which can be used to look through narrow spaces between pipes or other machines inaccessible to humans.
