LAS VEGAS, Jan.7 (Korea Bizwire) – Lee Seok-hee, chief executive officer (CEO) of battery maker SK On Co., on Tuesday explored opportunities to expand business partnerships with Geely Auto and Hyundai Motor Group at CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
“I visited CES at the request of our customers,” Lee told Yonhap News Agency after touring Geely Auto’s pavilion at the Las Vegas Convention Center. “I plan to meet customers and review technology trends combining artificial intelligence and mobility.”
After visiting Geely Auto’s booth, Lee met with senior executives of the Chinese automaker, including Vice President Li Chuanhai.
Lee also toured Hyundai Motor’s pavilion, underscoring SK On’s partnership with the South Korean auto giant.
“Hyundai Motor is SK On’s core and trusted partner,” he said. “Our plan to establish an electric vehicle battery cell production joint venture in Georgia is progressing, and production is expected to begin this year.”
Lee said SK On is seeking to diversify its business portfolio to navigate the current slowdown in electric vehicle (EV) demand and is undergoing restructuring following the termination of a battery joint venture partnership with Ford Motor Co. in the United States.
“I will accelerate efforts to improve profitability by expanding our business portfolio through lithium iron phosphate-based energy storage systems,” he said. “I expect we will see tangible results by the end of this year.”
