SEOUL, Aug. 11 (Korea Bizwire) – SK Planet, the IT solution developer of SK Group, announced that its Syrup Pay service introduced in April is gaining traction, as it surpassed 60 billion won in accumulated transactions this month.
SK Planet launched the simple online payment service through all of the shopping channels on its 11St portal in April. During the first two months of its introduction, the service only saw around five billion won in transactions. However, it grew to one billion won per a day, with more than one million subscribers.
With Syrup Pay, users can make purchases on PCs and smartphones using only a password, without installing any extra applications or security programs.
An SK Planet official said, “Partnership with almost all credit card operators, a web-based payment system without any extra installation, and enhanced security features seemed to attract online shoppers. Embedded with the firm’s own authentication and security processes, the online payment system guarantees safe online transactions.”
In addition, SK Planet is preparing additional payment solutions including check cards and money transfers based on partnerships with commercial banks, and is discussing partnerships with two or three large shopping mall operators.
SK Planet also plans to incorporate the payment system into its mobile ordering app, dubbed Syrup Order, and to apply the service to its various O2O channels including TStore, TMap Taxi and OK Cashback.
“Syrup Pay will take the lead in the era of simple online payment market with convenient services that enable users to make purchases anytime and anywhere. In the latter half of this year, while reinforcing its payment convenience by adding discount and loyalty programs, we will launch a payment service for offline commerce,” added the official.
