SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Korea Bizwire) — SK Securities on Tuesday released South Korea’s first financial-sector report aligned with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), marking a significant step toward integrating biodiversity and natural-capital risks into mainstream financial reporting.

TNFD, launched in 2021, promotes global standards for assessing and publicly disclosing how companies depend on and impact natural ecosystems. The disclosure framework encourages investors and institutions to evaluate nature-related risks, opportunities, and financial implications.

Selected earlier this year as the financial-sector pilot institution for the Ministry of Environment’s “natural capital disclosure demonstration project,” SK Securities received technical support from the National Institute of Biological Resources. Experts from academia, the private sector, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) participated as advisors.

The report includes an assessment of SK Securities’ exposure to nature-related risks across equities, bonds, and corporate lending portfolios. It also presents dependency and impact analyses and provides practical models for future disclosures.

An SK Securities official said the pilot project helped solidify “critical direction and credibility” for building a natural-capital disclosure framework. The company plans to continue taking a leading role in helping financial institutions transparently evaluate and share nature-related risks and opportunities across industries.
