SEOUL, April 12 (Korea Bizwire) — SK Telecom Co., South Korea’s top wireless carrier, announced that it has developed and is set to commercialize artificial intelligence (AI)-based post-production technology in collaboration with domestic digital content distribution company NEW ID.
Designed to remove the captions, viewing ratings and sound sources protected by copyright that are digitally added to movies or TV shows, the technology is expected to play a role in the promotion of the global exchange of content.
By using AI technology, SK Telecom supports the media upscaling solution Supernova, which can remove Korean captions and broadcaster logos within videos, eliminate on-site and background sound sources, and convert low-resolution videos into high-resolution files.
NEW ID, which provides content to more than 20 global platforms, including Amazon and Discovery Channel, plans to export re-processed domestic content to the global market.
The two parties expect the newly-developed technology to contribute to promoting the export of domestic entertainment content, which frequently contains captions, word balloons and background music.
