SEOUL, Feb. 22 (Korea Bizwire)SK Telecom Co., South Korea’s largest wireless carrier, said Tuesday it will cooperate with U.S. chipmaker Qualcomm Inc. and local robotics platform developer Integrit to develop an open-type robotics data platform.

The three-party open robotics platform project aims to develop a standardized platform that can share and process data by strengthening connectivity between robots.

“A variety of intelligent robots are emerging in the domestic robot market, but they can only learn information and process data limited to the space in which they are active,” SK Telecom said.

The company plans to take a leading role in the process of applying artificial intelligence (AI) technology, robot control, security technology and data set standardization for the open robotics platform.

Qualcomm will be responsible for providing the Internet of Things (IoT) processor QRB5165, robotics RB5 platform and AI engine.

Integrit will be in charge of developing and distributing robot development kits mounted with solutions from SK Telecom and Qualcomm, as well as testing for certification.
