SEOUL, Jan. 2 (Korea Bizwire)SK Telecom Co. succeeded in the first live broadcast of the annual Bosingak bell-ringing event using a 5G commercial network on January 1.

The live broadcast was 11 minutes long, featuring the New Year countdown, the bell-ringing event and interviews.

It was filmed with a smartphone connected to a 5G mobile router and broadcasted to viewers through a 5G base station and a transmission system in Sangam-dong, Seoul.

The time difference between Bosingak and viewers was less than second, which is the same as the most commonly used wired live broadcasting systems.

SK Telecom proudly explained that ‘5G live broadcast’ is now available anywhere using only smartphones, even at an event where data traffic is high.

SK Telecom is planning to increase the quality of ‘T Live Caster’, a live broadcasting application, by the end of this year, and will push to connect individual broadcasting platforms with its network.

Furthermore, the company is planning to enter the market for drone broadcasting using its 5G network.

Individual content creators can now offer their own quality broadcasts anywhere, anytime with only their smartphone.
