SEOUL, July 8 (Korea Bizwire) — SK Telecom Co., South Korea’s largest wireless carrier, said Thursday that it will launch a program with its chipmaking affiliate SK hynix Inc. to share their practical knowledge and know-how in the areas of semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI) with local universities.
The two companies will establish an online education platform through the SK ICT Curriculum program and contribute to addressing the shortage of talent in advanced industries through the development of regular curricula and special lectures customized for universities.
The Semiconductor Curriculum established by SK hynix contains more than 80 lessons in twelve major areas, including semiconductor processing, devices and designs.
SK Telecom will provide 77 video lectures in a total of ten AI areas, centered on voice-based AI technologies, including voice recognition, natural language and voice synthesis, through its AI Curriculum.
The Seoul National University will open a master’s degree program using SK Telecom’s AI platform in the fall semester.
The university will also open a bachelor’s degree program on engineering knowledge and practical application on the basis of SK hynix’s semiconductor development cases.
