SEOUL, March 27 (Korea Bizwire) —  SK Telecom on Thursday unveiled its new ESG vision, “Do the Good AI,” signaling a sweeping integration of artificial intelligence across its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy.

The initiative reflects the company’s ambition to drive both technological competitiveness and social responsibility through AI innovation.

The initiative is structured around three pillars: DO AI, which enhances the core capabilities of telecommunications through AI; T.H.E. AI, which emphasizes the trust, humanity, and ethics of AI deployment; and GOOD AI, aimed at using AI for positive societal and environmental impact.

On the environmental front, SK Telecom is leveraging AI to support its net-zero goals. The company utilizes AI-driven network design to anticipate quality shifts and optimize equipment placement.

It also employs AI to dynamically manage energy consumption based on network traffic, reducing electricity use. A new AI-powered waste sorting guide is also under development.

Socially, SK Telecom is using AI to tackle systemic issues. Its AI systems currently block over 1.3 million suspected voice phishing attempts each month, helping to protect customers from financial fraud.

The company also offers services like CareVia, which uses video recognition AI to monitor and support individuals with developmental disabilities, and AI Call, where virtual agents check in on vulnerable populations.

Looking ahead, SK Telecom plans to expand its Happy AI Coding School, targeting digital access for youth with disabilities, through a volunteer-led initiative dubbed GOOD AI Corps.

In the second quarter of 2025, the company will also launch a program to support AI-focused startups in emerging tech and service sectors, aiming to broaden Korea’s AI ecosystem.

In the governance arena, SK Telecom is working with global partners and the GSMA to promote responsible AI standards and implementation frameworks. Last year, the company introduced its T.H.E. AI governance framework and earned certification under the international AI management standard ISO/IEC 42001.

Through “Do the Good AI,” SK Telecom is positioning itself as a leader in responsible AI deployment, aiming to deliver both innovation and impact as it looks ahead to 2026.
