SEOUL, Jul. 16 (Korea Bizwire) – SK Telecom, a leading South Korean telecommunications company, is set to introduce its artificial intelligence-based veterinary diagnostic aid service, X Caliber, to the North American market, following successful launches in Australia and Indonesia.

On July 15, SK Telecom announced that it had signed a distribution agreement with Nuon and Nikki, Canadian medical equipment manufacturers, and a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MyVet Imaging, a U.S. X-ray equipment distributor.

X Caliber is an innovative service that uses AI to analyze X-ray images of pets, assisting veterinarians in disease diagnosis.

In Canada, X Caliber is scheduled to be available next month in about 100 local animal hospitals, integrated with imaging software for pets developed by Nuon and Nikki.

In the United States, following the signing of the agreement, solution verification has begun at an animal hospital in New Jersey. SK Telecom plans to finalize a commercial contract within the third quarter of this year.

As X Caliber expands its global reach, SK Telecom is boosting the service’s capabilities. The company plans to add a CTR function for analyzing cat heart sizes, similar to the existing VLAS function that measures dog heart sizes through chest radiography.

Future updates will include features to evaluate knee joint issues in dogs and hip dysplasia in both dogs and cats.
