SEOUL, March 23 (Korea Bizwire) – South Korea’s top mobile carrier SK Telecom Co. will provide foreign visitors here with an opportunity to experience its services free of charge, company officials said Wednesday.
In the “Enjoy Mobile Korea” program, 250 foreigners arriving in South Korea will be able to use unlimited voice calling services and up to 5GB mobile data through brand-new smartphones for five days every week.
It will benefit a total of 12,000 people a year.
SK Telecom has teamed up with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and Samsung Electronics for the service that began earlier in the day.
The state-run tour agency has offered a “Visit Korea” application and Samsung has presented 300 Galaxy Note 5 smartphones.’
Around 2,500 foreigners applied for the first week event via the KTO’s website, www.visitkorea.or.kr, and 70 percent of them are from East Asian regions such as China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
“This service is expected to help enhance the satisfaction level of foreigners traveling to South Korea and contribute to efforts to promote tourism,” Yoon Won-young, a senior SK official said.
