SEOUL, Feb. 2 (Korea Bizwire) – The National Fire Agency has announced the official launch of the “Smart CCTV Integration Platform” in three areas— the cities of Busan and Daejeon as well as Gangwon Province—starting this month.

The platform integrates CCTV footage from local governments and related organizations with the 119 emergency control center’s system, allowing for comprehensive monitoring and coordination.

Following successful pilot operations in Busan and Gangwon Province in 2022, and in Daejeon in 2023, the platform is now fully operational.

With this integrated platform, emergency services can now access real-time traffic conditions to determine the best routes for emergency vehicles and monitor on-site situations for quicker and more accurate decision-making.

North Jeolla Province has been selected as the next region for the project, with system setup completion expected soon, and pilot operations planned for the latter half of the year.

The National Fire Agency has also been working on integrating the platform with CCTV footage from other related organizations, such as the Korea Expressway Corporation and the Cultural Heritage Administration, to boost disaster response capabilities.

As a result, access to over 14,000 CCTV cameras from the Korea Expressway Corporation and around 400 CCTV cameras managed by the Cultural Heritage Administration has been secured since last year.

The National Fire Agency stated, “As national-scale emergency deployments become more routine, we plan to continue government support until the integration of CCTV cameras from all local governments and related organizations is complete, ensuring a more efficient emergency response across the country.”
