SEOUL, Oct. 21 (Korea Bizwire) — Seoul’s Songpa District said Wednesday that it has introduced a new service to find the owners of pets killed in traffic accidents.
The district will check for identification tags or chips before removing the deceased pet from the road to locate and deliver the pet to its owner.
Previously, roadkill animals were categorized as ‘animal carcasses’ and were removed without proper identification.
The district is the first local government to introduce the service in South Korea in response to the growing social mood of accepting pets as family.
