SEOUL, Dec. 23 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced the completion of a cutting-edge “Personal Battlefield Visualization System” on December 23.

This system enables individual soldiers to share real-time battlefield information and communicate seamlessly with team members.

The system, developed with Hanwha Systems as the primary contractor, leverages personal radios and tactical smartphones. Soldiers can exchange text messages, share target visuals, and transmit identified targets captured through weapon-mounted scopes.

This advancement aims to improve situational awareness and coordination during operations.

DAPA plans to transition the system into mass production following the successful conclusion of research and development.

Additionally, DAPA has upgraded the Air Force’s “Chang-Gong Model,” a computer-based simulation system used for realistic combat command exercises. This enhanced system now supports simulations of 20 types of operations, up from seven, including aerospace missions.

The upgrade incorporates 27 new assets, such as F-35A fighter jets and Taurus missiles, offering near-realistic training without deploying actual forces.

These developments mark a significant stride in modernizing South Korea’s military capabilities, aligning with global standards for technology-driven defense systems.
