SEOUL, Feb. 4 (Korea Bizwire) — The South Korean Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on February 3 that it will expand benefits for consumers who help identify or frequently patronize businesses designated as “Good Price Shops” — establishments recognized for providing quality goods and services at reasonable prices.

Under the new initiative, consumers who identify three or more Good Price Shops will receive a commemorative silver medal, lowered from the previous requirement of five shops.

The ministry will also reward customers who visit and verify 10 different locations or make 30 visits to these establishments with a commemorative silver medal, limited to 500 recipients, in an effort to encourage repeat patronage.

Consumers can locate nearby Good Price Shops through the official program website (goodprice.go.kr) or popular navigation apps including Naver Maps, Kakao Maps, and T Map.

The ministry will continue its discount program, offering consumers a 2,000 won reduction on card purchases of 10,000 won or more at participating establishments. The program will rotate through different credit card companies monthly, beginning with NH Card in January.

Detailed information about specific card benefits can be found on both the Good Price Shop website and respective credit card company websites.

“We will actively support Good Price Shops and encourage public interest and visits to contribute to price stability and regional economic recovery,” said Cho Sung-hwan, director of the Regional Economy Support Bureau at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

As of February 3, there were 9,746 designated Good Price Shops nationwide, spanning restaurants, beauty salons, and laundry services. Businesses designated as Good Price Shops receive various benefits, including discounts on garbage bags and water bills, as well as support for online and mobile promotion of their establishments.
