South Korea Gears Up for Major Travel Fair Showcasing Domestic Destinations

SEOUL, Mar. 29 (Korea Bizwire) – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea announced on Monday that it will host the “2024 Explore Korea Travel Fair” from March 28 to 31 at the aT Center in Seoul’s Seocho District, in collaboration with the Korea Association of Travel Agents. 

Now in its 21st year, the “Explore Korea Travel Fair” is the nation’s largest travel exhibition. Since its inception in 2004, the fair has attracted over 2.14 million visitors.

This year’s event, themed “My Bucket List for Local Travel in Korea,” will feature 230 booths operated by 132 organizations and individuals, offering diverse travel information and products from across the country. 

Jang Mi-ran, the second vice minister of culture, sports and tourism, will attend the opening ceremony on March 28 at 11 a.m. to commemorate the fair’s launch. She plans to surprise attendees by helping them fulfill items on their local travel bucket lists.

On March 31, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yu In-chon will visit the fair to encourage local government representatives and tourism industry professionals while seeking on-site opinions on revitalizing regional tourism. 

The fair will also host various events, including “Kim Dae-ho’s Travel Stories” by the MBC announcer on March 28 at 1 p.m. and a “Regional Travel Talk Concert” with popular travel YouTuber Chae Ko-je on March 30 at 11 a.m. 

Additionally, attendees can participate in a Hanbit traditional Korean costume fashion show, a short-form video production lecture, the fair’s 21st anniversary event, and various hands-on activities like making neon sign mood lamps and regional character color beads.

On March 29 and 30, the Korea Association of Travel Agents’ YouTube channel will host a “Explore Korea Travel Products Live Sale,” offering discounted travel packages. 

The fair will also provide pet stroller rental services for visitors bringing their furry companions. 

“At this year’s ‘Explore Korea Travel Fair,’ I hope visitors can dream of the joys of travel and discover their own unique travel experiences,” said Minister Yu In-chon.
