SEOUL, Feb. 11 (Korea Bizwire) — A new survey has revealed that South Korean adults rate their life satisfaction at just over 50 points out of 100, according to a report released by Lotte Members on February 10.

The report, titled “2025 Tomorrow, Us,” which surveyed 5,000 adults, found that respondents gave their overall quality of life a composite score of 52.7 points out of 100.

Among different aspects of life, living environment scored highest at 58.8 points, followed closely by personal relationships at 58.4 points. Health satisfaction scored lowest at 49.6 points, while consumption and assets also rated poorly at 49 points.

Age-based analysis showed that individuals in their 60s reported the highest overall life satisfaction at 54.1 points, surpassing both the 20-30 age group (53.8 points) and the 40-50 age group (51.2 points).

The 60s age group also reported the highest satisfaction with their living environment at 61.7 points. For those in their 40s and 50s, living environment also topped their category rankings at 58.1 points. Meanwhile, the 20-30 age group rated personal relationships highest among their categories at 60 points.

Regarding shopping patterns, 48% of respondents reported increased food purchases compared to the previous year, marking the highest increase across all categories. Other categories showing increased consumption included household goods (37.7%), health supplements (30%), accessories (29.4%), and fashion clothing (28.7%).

Looking ahead, respondents anticipated increased spending on food (38.2%) and health supplements (33.7%). However, luxury goods and furniture/interior items are expected to see decreased consumption due to the economic downturn.
