SEOUL, Aug. 18 (Korea Bizwire)A South Korean flag will be hung in front of the Charging Bull statue on Wall Street in New York for an entire week.

The Asian American Youth Council (AAYC) hosted a South Korean flag at Bowling Green Park in Manhattan on Tuesday (local time) to mark the occasion of South Korea’s Aug. 15 Liberation Day.

With the expense borne entirely by the youth organization, the South Korean flag will fly alongside the U.S. flag for the next seven days.

“We decided to hang the South Korean flag at a place where the U.S. celebrated its independence for the first time. It is a meaningful way to celebrate the independence of both countries while promoting the meaning of Korea’s Liberation Day,” said Brian Jon, head of AAYC who is known for his campaign that led to the first designation of Hanbok Day.
