NAMHAE, Apr. 26 (Korea Bizwire) – A European-inspired boutique hotel has opened in the German Village, a tourist destination in Namhae County, South Gyeongsang Province, transforming the quaint district modeled after a traditional Bavarian town into one of South Korea’s largest “village hotel” concepts.

Namhae County officials announced on April 25 that 50 rental homes in the German Village have been converted into hotel rooms, allowing guests to experience the folksy charms of the district while receiving full-service hotel amenities like daily breakfast and event hosting.

Visitors can start their day at cafes and restaurants within the village before strolling the German-themed streets lined with murals, sculptures and architecture emulating a Bavarian alpine setting. Group tours can also reserve facilities to hold seminars and meetings.

As an incentive for hotel guests to fully explore the German Village’s visuals and photo-ops, welcome gifts will be provided to those sharing shots from their walking tours on social media.

The county government plans to further expand the village hotel concept by recruiting additional affiliates across Namhae County to offer more diverse services, tours and packages tied to overnight stays in the German Village.

“We’ve remodeled the German Village into a European village hotel concept to stimulate new growth and create more value,” said Cho Young-ho, director of the Namhae Tourism and Culture Foundation. “Going forward, we will develop more unique travel products and programs to elevate the brand value of the German Village.”

The German Village opened in 2004 spanning over 50 acres in the rural county, featuring architecture, gardens, restaurants and shops exhibiting Bavarian cultural influences. It has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region.

By utilizing the district’s themed accommodations as a hotel complex, Namhae hopes to attract more overnight visitors and offer a comprehensive hospitality experience amid the pastoral photo-friendly scenery. Boutique “village hotels” allowing guests to stay among historic architectural settings or picturesque countrysides have emerged as a travel trend in South Korea.
