SEOUL, Dec. 12 (Korea Bizwire)SPC Group, a South Korean food and beverage company, said Tuesday its bakery brand Paris Baguette has opened seven new outlets in Southeast Asia as part of its global expansion strategy.

Paris Baguette opened three new stores in Singapore, two in Indonesia and two in Malaysia as it seeks to further strengthen its presence in the Southeast Asian markets, SPC said in a statement.

With the addition of the new outlets, the brand has 45 outlets in Southeast Asia — 16 in Singapore, 11 in Indonesia, 10 in Vietnam, 6 in Malaysia, and 2 in Cambodia.

In August, SPC signed “master franchise” deals with two Malaysian companies — Berjaya Food and Middle Trade — to sell their bakery products through their local networks, the statement said.

SPC is also building a plant in Malaysia to deliver halal foods to the 12 markets that also include Indonesia, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates. The plant is scheduled to be completed next year.

SPC has advanced into 10 countries with the Paris Baguette brand since 2004, and the number of Paris Baguette outlets has recently exceeded 520 globally.

SPC said it earned more than 600 billion won (US$460 million) from its overseas Paris Baguette stores last year.
