SEOUL, June 17 (Korea Bizwire)Family court judges and youth experts have prepared a special healing program comprised of walking and counselling to help reduce repeated offenses for troubled youth.

The Daejeon Family Court announced that it would begin the 12-day walking tour to Mount Jiri together with the juvenile criminals. The 10 youth offenders joining the program will walk 260km of mountain trails in silence and reflect on how their poor decisions affected their lives.

Youth experts and family court judges will join the pilgrimage and heal their wounds by helping them settle their own problems and find their new selves.

The program was first launched last year by the Daejeon family court, and was highly praised by other regional family courts for its effectiveness. All five family courts in Korea decided to organize the program together and make it a biannual event.

A judge at the Daejeon family court said, “By making the young offenders cultivate constructive thoughts, the program is made to prevent them from committing other crimes. The family courts in Korea will offer other program as well to properly guide youth.”
