SEOUL, August 1 (Korea Bizwire) – Hyundai Home Shopping revealed on August 1 that revenue from stainless steel kitchenware including saucepans, skillets, food storage containers, dish racks, and teapots surged by 27 percent to 19 billion won ($17 million) during the first half of 2016 compared to the same period in 2015.
Stainless steel products do not rust or stain easily, and leach fewer environmentally hazardous substances compared to products made of plastic or glass.
As Koreans are becoming more conscious of health hazards after the toxic humidifier sterilizer scandal, less “hazardous” kitchenware is attracting consumers in the household product market.
To meet increasing demand, Hyundai Home Shopping expanded its stainless steel product line to include food storage containers, skillets, teapots and kitchen shelves among 20 different product lines.
ChefLine (160,000 won) and Green Keeps (149,000 won) are popular choices for stainless steel food storage containers.
CJ O Shopping also experienced a similar revenue jump, with sales of stainless steel products increasing 38 percent to 21 billion won during the first half of the. Seven new stainless steel kitchenware products including the PN Stainless Steel Skillet Set have been launched this year.
