JEJU, June 8 (Korea Bizwire) — Starbucks Korea has introduced the country’s first in-store mailbox at its Jeju Sehwa Drive-Thru location, offering customers a unique “slow mail” experience while promoting environmental sustainability.
Announced on June 8, the initiative features a special mailbox donated by the Jeju Regional Post Office, designed to send postcards exactly one year after they are written. The postcards are made from recycled paper containing 30% upcycled milk cartons collected from 58 Starbucks stores in the Daejeon area.
The project is part of Starbucks Korea’s broader efforts to promote upcycling and environmental consciousness. The store’s manager, Kim Sook-jin, said, “We’re proud to give back to the community by using funds from our environmental reserve to produce these meaningful upcycled postcards.”
Opened in November 2023, the Jeju Sehwa DT branch operates as a community store, reinvesting a portion of its revenue into local initiatives. For every item sold, 300 won is allocated to an environmental fund used to support upcycling campaigns and other eco-friendly programs.
The “slow mailbox” campaign underscores Starbucks Korea’s commitment in 2025 to blending sustainability with customer engagement, offering both a reflective experience and tangible environmental impact.
