SEOUL, Dec. 27 (Korea Bizwire)The state-run Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency said Monday it has launched an online service that enables workers to check how much they have been exposed to carcinogenic substances.

The agency developed K-CAREX (carcinogen exposure) to measure the scale of exposure to carcinogenic substances and the number of workers being exposed to such substances by industry, adding that such information will be provided online.

K-CAREX provides information on 20 different types of carcinogenic substances for 233 industries, collected through big data and expert evaluations on the basis of occupational environment measurement data, occupational environment surveys, and special health diagnosis data.

Considering the latent period of solid tumors, the service offers visual data on exposure to carcinogenic substances on the basis of 2010 data.

The service is expected to contribute to helping select priorities in occupational cancer prevention policies, as well as minimizing the cost of analyzing the scale of exposure to carcinogenic substances by industry.
