SEOUL, Oct. 18 (Korea Bizwire) – CJ Cheil Jedang, the food giant and operator of the Bibigo food brand, revealed that China’s leading state-run TV network CCTV (China Central Television) reported October 5 on the popularity of home meal replacements in South Korea.
“Previously, home meal replacements amounted to little more than cup noodles, but presently the variety of options have vastly increased, with different products that can be prepared with minimal effort being released into the market,” CCTV reported.
The Chinese network also named CJ Cheil Jedang as a principal actor in leading market expansion and highlighted the company’s diversified R&D efforts and meals packaging capabilities.
It reported, “In the midst of a surging home meal replacement market in South Korea, CJ Cheil Jedang is leading the industry by raising the quality of its products through ceaseless research and development.”
CCTV raised the example of CJ Cheil Jedang’s yukgaejang – a spicy beef soup – to illustrate the South Korean company’s success.
“The simple and easy to prepare yukgaejang product has gained consumers’ approval for [CJ Cheil Jedang's] strict adherence to the traditional method of preparation, through which the soup’s natural flavors are brought out.”
The broadcast featured scenes from the research and development process of the ‘Bibigo HMR’ line and the holders used in the ‘Bibigo Rice with Korean Grilled Patties’ products.
For the story, a CJ Cheil Jedang insider said a CCTV team had requested and been granted permission to visit the company’s food research facilities and Bibigo home meal replacement manufacturing center in Nonsan.
