SEOUL, Oct. 8 (Korea Bizwire)The Korean American Association of Greater New York announced on October 6 that the “Korean Parade” it had hosted in New York’s Manhattan district that afternoon ended successfully.

This was the 38th parade organized by the association.

The parade featuring a Korean traditional percussion band and parade floats marched north and south of Manhattan’s 6th Avenue.

Of note, the Statue of Peace originally installed in front of the Korean American Association’s office was included in the parade, drawing great attention from the crowd.

Korean American students from Fort Lee, a city in the state of New Jersey, who initiated the installation of a “comfort women memorial,” led the float of the Statue of Peace.

The association also installed a special booth for the statue in an effort to deliver a message from the now-elderly former comfort women.

At Manhattan’s 32nd Street, also known as New York City’s Koreatown, various outdoor events such as a marketplace, a Korean food festival, and traditional performances were held.
