SEOUL, Jan. 4 (Korea Bizwire) –Stellantis Korea announced the launch of the new 2024 Wrangler, an updated version of Jeep’s flagship off-road vehicle, at a press briefing on January 3.
The new Wrangler is a partial model change of the fifth-generation Wrangler, first introduced in 2017. Known as the epitome of off-road vehicles, the Wrangler has sold over 5 million units worldwide since its first generation debuted in 1986.
The new 2024 Wrangler is powered by a 2.0L gasoline turbo engine, delivering a maximum output of 272 horsepower (at 5,250 rpm) and a peak torque of 40.8 kg·m (at 3,000 rpm). Equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and low gear ratio, it is optimized for both off-road and everyday driving.
The exterior design of the new Wrangler reflects the brand’s 37-year legacy of off-road DNA, merged with a next-generation design direction, embodying a fusion of tradition and future.
For the first time, the new Wrangler features a ‘windshield integrated stealth antenna’ instead of the traditional steel antenna, designed to protect the vehicle from various obstacles, such as tree branches, during rough driving conditions.
The front of the Wrangler is equipped with a seven-slot grille and LED headlamps, with the vertical slots in the grille enhancing cooling efficiency and durability.
The new Wrangler boasts a new 12.3-inch touchscreen, along with Uconnect 5 software that is five times faster than its predecessor. It also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and includes the TMAP navigation system, which is favored by South Korean consumers.
Safety features for off-road driving include grab handles next to the front seats for passengers when the doors are removed, electronic stability control (ESC), and hill start assist (HSA).
Stellantis Korea highlights that the new Wrangler is equipped with nearly 70 driving safety and convenience features for a comfortable and safe driving experience, whether off-road or in everyday settings.
The new 2024 Wrangler will be available in three trims in South Korea: Sport S, Rubicon, and Sahara. Customers can choose from 10 exterior colors, with prices ranging from the high 60 million to the low 80 million won range.
Jake Aumann, president of Stellantis Korea, stated that despite a price increase reflecting manufacturing costs and exchange rates, the new Wrangler offers competitive value. He emphasized a consistent pricing policy rather than monthly changes.
Responding to the increasing competition in the off-road SUV market, Aumann expressed confidence in the Wrangler’s unique position, stating that “there’s no real competitor to the Wrangler,” and highlighting the brand’s focus on two-way communication with customers to usher in a new ‘Wrangler era’.
