SEOUL, Jan. 13 (Korea Bizwire)About one month ahead of the opening of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Spain, South Korean companies are still contemplating whether or not to participate as around 70 businesspeople who attended Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas last week had tested positive for COVID-19.

The MWC, one of the top three tech events in the world along with the CES in the United States and IFA in Germany, scheduled to be held from February 28 to March 3 as an offline event.

A string of South Korean tech giants including Samsung Electronics Co., SK Telecom Co. and KT Corp. will take part in the MWC 2022 as exhibitors.

They are now in the final stages of preparations, including exhibition booth assignments.

However, it remains uncertain if their executives will attend the event due to the COVID-19 pandemic in overseas countries.

In particular, after dozens of Samsung executives who participated in CES 2022 were confirmed to be infected with COVID-19, the concerns of domestic businesses deepened.

In Spain, the spread of the COVID-19 remains unabated. According to the Worldometer website, the number of new virus cases in Spain currently stands at about 130,000 every day, among the highest in the world.
