SEOUL, Dec.16 (Korea Bizwire) Telecommunications companies locked in fierce competition are poaching manpower from their competitors to increase sales.

Nam Sang-il (46), Manager of Marketing Communication at SK Telecom, came from Cheil Worldwide, the largest PR firm in Korea. He was previously in charge of advertisements for KT, and knows the KT’s marketing strategies better than anybody. Now, he is in charge of marketing at SK Telecom, KT’s biggest rival.

Yoon Kyung-lim (52), head of the future convergence business office at KT, is a former vice president at CJ Hellovision. Lim’s experience in the telecommunications field is very impressive. Starting at Dacom, he worked as head of sales at Hanaro Telecom and head of the service development at KT. After transferring to CJ Group in 2010, Lim returned to KT after four years.

The future convergence business office at KT is an intricate cog that develops future businesses which are expected to lead the company to success. The unit has a lot to do with stopping SK Telecom’s proposed merger with CJ Hellovision, making Lim’s role critically important.

Industry watchers anticipate that the poached employees will perform brilliantly, with various competitive issues in the telecommunications market such as the auctioning of frequencies set to occur next year.
