SEOUL, June 1 (Korea Bizwire)Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Inc. has increased the usage fee for its network of rapid-charging stations in South Korea, effective from Wednesday.

The per-minute charging fee for Tesla superchargers in South Korea has been raised by approximately 20 percent to 509 won (US$0.39).

For stations that charge per kilowatt-hour (kWh), the fee has been increased by 5 percent to 363 won per kWh.

This marks the first time that EV charging fees have been raised following the government’s announcement of an electricity price hike.

Hyundai Motor Group’s E-pit, an ultrafast charger for EVs, offers a relatively inexpensive charging fee of about 340 won per kWh.

On Tuesday, Tesla added a popup message to the Supercharger charging information displayed on all domestically sold vehicles, stating, “Price will change starting from midnight tonight.”

However, Tesla has not provided customers with detailed information about the change in charging fees via mobile phone messages or the company’s mobile app.
