SEOUL, South Korea, Dec. 15 (Korea Bizwire) — The KDI School of Public Policy and Management announced its launching of a completely revamped website of K-Developedia (www.kdevelopedia.org) in commemoration of the second anniversary of a comprehensive DB on Korean development. It has largely updated the DB in two years since its first official launch on November 23, 2012.

The revamping entailed upgrading the classification system of K-Developedia, enhancing new video clips and photographs, and introducing a new window opening method when searching for information in order to enhance user access and build a user-friendly interface. Also, the KDI School attempted to reinforce its contribution to policy making and academic research of developing countries, which was the original purpose of the website, by creating an optimal search engine environment.

In particular, the main screen displays images of Korea’s 60 years of development for users to view them at a glance. By clicking the images, visitors can have an access to the related information. Moreover, the website displays videos and photos on the front page to induce user interest in various forms of data.

K-Developedia is contributing to policy making and academic research of developing countries by continuously updating contents; providing diverse types of resources on Korea’s development experience, including text, images, and videos; and sharing data with about 100 external research institutes. As a result, about 30,000 people from about 150 countries (India, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Vietnam, Cambodia, etc.) visited the website in 2014 alone. This is a significant growth of over 70% year-on-year.

K-Developedia is also enhancing cooperation with external organizations, built an OAI-PMH-based system and is sharing data in the OAK portal system of the Korean National Central Library to expand its external links and provide data related to Korea’s development to more users.

“K-Developedia is the only database in the world on Korean development and we are working hard to provide necessary information and data more easily and simply to all users hoping to learn from the Korean development model,” said Dean Nam, Sang-Woo of the KDI School of Public Policy and Management.  “It is our hope that the revamping of K-Developedia conducted in commemoration of its second anniversary would enable us to share more diverse data on Korean development worldwide users,” he added.
