SEOUL, Korea, Nov 28 (Korea Bizwire) – The city government of Seoul announced that the Myeongdong Tourist Information Center will open on November 29th with Seoul mayor Park Won-soon and other officials attending the opening ceremony to be held at 4PM.

The center will be located at the heart of Myeongdong, Seoul’s most popular tourist attraction, on the first floor of the annex building of Korea Exchange Bank (KEB) head office.

The establishment of the Myeongdong Tourist Information Center has been promoted by the city government of Seoul in cooperation with KEB and the Seoul Tourism Organization (STO). KEB will provide the office space for the center for free, the city government is said to foot the bill regarding management expenses, and STO will be in charge of managing office operations.

The center will serve as an information guidance providing tourists with useful information on Seoul tour, also functioning as a one-stop destination solving a wide range of issues including tourist complaints, reservations, ticketing, and even holding various events. The center has been designed after ‘Jangakwon’, a bureau that supervised court music during the Chosun dynasty, and is expected to be a major source of story-telling on experience of Seoul tourism.

The center will solve any complaint raised by tourists on the spot giving another helping hand to realizing ‘Safe Tourism in Seoul’ initiative. The center will accommodate other needs for tourists having souvenir shops and the country’s largest leaflet wall installed there and at Chroma Key wall, tourists can take pictures in front a screen showing various Korean sightseeing attractions.

Seo Jeong-hyup, deputy director general of Seoul Tourism says, “Both tourists and the private businesses are two main pillars to support growth of the tourism industry, and the government is, responsible for cultivating an environment where these two actors can cooperate amicably. The establishment of the Myeongdong Tourist Information Center through public-private partnership is a win-win project for all parties involved. We hope that the Myeongdong Tourist Information Center is the beginning of increased infrastructure through the use of private sector assets.”
