This Year’s Tour de DMZ Scheduled for June 1st

UIJEONGBU, Apr. 2 (Korea Bizwire)The 2019 Tour de DMZ, jointly hosted by Gyeonggi and Gangwon Province, will be held across the two provinces from Yeoncheon County to Cheorwon County on June 1.

The Tour de DMZ was first held in 2013 commemorating the 60th anniversary of the armistice agreement concluded in the Korean War.

Since 2015, Gyeonggi and Gangwon provinces have been jointly hosting the event to promote coexistence.

The championship will invite cyclists to compete on a 56-kilometer course stretching from Yeoncheon Public Stadium to Cheorwon Public Stadium.

Applications are available at the Tour de DMZ official website (www.tourde-dmz.co.kr) until May 14.

There is a 30,000 won (US$26) entrance fee for all applicants requiring shuttle transport, and 15,000 won for those who do not.

The organizers have set a limit of 2,000 bicyclists to join the competition. For more details, visit the official website or contact the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization at 031-956-8305.

“The Tour de DMZ will serve as a great opportunity to connect the two provinces and promote coexistence and mutual growth,” said a Gyeonggi Province official.

“Participants will be able to access the DMZ route rarely available to the public.”
