SEOUL, July 5 (Korea Bizwire)The time is coming when public transport fares will be paid automatically if you simply pass by card readers without having to tag your traffic card or smartphone on the readers.

South Korean smart payment operator Tmoney Co. said Monday that it will launch a trial operation of the T-Money Tagless Payment service for the Ui-Sinseol Light Rail Transit and the Incheon Subway Line No. 2.

The new tagless payment service makes use of a mobile sensor device and a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology.

By installing the T-Money Pay app that features a tagless payment function, users can automatically complete the payment simply by passing by subway gates.

The T-Money tagless payment is also available when smartphones are put in bags or pockets.

Since it is compatible with existing tag-based payment services, passengers can select the payment type they want. It’s also compatible with other means of public transport that do not offer a tagless payment system.
