TONGYEONG, March 25 (Korea Bizwire) — The city of Tongyeong in South Gyeongsang Province will push for a project to set up local area drone delivery services.
The project is aimed at building delivery infrastructure by using drones in logistics blind spots such as mountainous areas or islands where it is difficult to receive mail and parcels.
Upon entry of the street name address, the drone will fly, identify the target location, and automatically deliver the parcel.
To that end, the government will set up receiving points, loading points, and operating points for the system at 30 locations in and around Tongyeong.
“The quick delivery of daily necessities, first aid supplies and parcels to island areas, where there is only a small volume of packages, and delivery service is costly, will help residents in the logistics blind spot,” a city official said.
