SEJONG, July 29 (Korea Bizwire)Starting next month, all travelers entering South Korea through Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport and Gimpo International Airport will be able to clear customs via a mobile app.

The Korea Customs Service said Thursday it has released a newly developed “traveler’s customs declaration” app for smartphones and a smart customs entry service that scans a QR code produced after inbound travelers complete their customs declaration through the app.

Travelers can take a photo of their passport and use it to register on the app. The app also helps travelers to come up with the estimated duties payable for products that aren’t exempt from customs.

Travelers can also use the internet to declare customs without having to install the app.

Travelers carrying products that exceed the duty-free limit should go through a luggage check and pay the amount owed.
