SEOUL, March 15 (Korea Bizwire) – Data indicates that Seoul citizens are increasingly choosing to use public transportation as part of their efforts to be environmentally conscious.
According to an infographic generated by The Seoul Institute entitled ‘Seoul Citizens’ Efforts to Save the Environment’, 65.2 percent of the 431 citizens questioned picked ‘using public transportation’ as the action they took most frequently to preserve the environment. ‘Recycling cans and bottles’ (47.3 percent) ranked second, followed by ‘using an eco-bag when shopping’ (32.3 percent).
Also ranking on the list were ‘reducing the disposal of food waste’ (23.4 percent), and ‘cutting down unnecessary water usage’ (21.8 percent).
On the other hand, endeavors such as ‘waiting until the elevator door closes by itself’ (4.2 percent), ‘reducing unwanted sounds’ (3.9 percent), and ‘not using Freon gas products’ (3.2 percent) were not as common.
More than 70 percent of the respondents claimed that they were interested in the environmental problems facing the city, while only 3.2 percent replied that they were ‘not interested’.
