SEOUL, Dec. 26 (Korea Bizwire)The U.S. embassy in Seoul said Wednesday that it is issuing visas and conducting other consular affairs normally despite a partial government shutdown that started last week.

“We plan to continue our work related to passport and visa issuance as long as the situation permits,” an embassy official said. “As of now, there isn’t anything that has changed due to the shutdown.”

The official, however, said that if there is any measure related to the shutdown that will affect South Korean citizens’ travel to the U.S., the embassy will provide prompt notification.

The partial shutdown of the U.S. federal government began Saturday after the White House and Congress failed to reach a compromise over a spending deal.
