U.S. Second Gentleman Visits Korean Traditional Market

SEOUL, May 13 (Korea Bizwire)Douglas Emhoff, the husband of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, visited a traditional market in South Korea to experience Korean culture.

The second gentleman, leading a congratulatory group, attended President Yoon Suk-yeol’s inaugural ceremony on Tuesday.

He then posted a photo of himself visiting the bustling Gwangjang Market in Seoul on social media.

Emhoff was accompanied by TV personality and restaurateur Hong Suk-cheon, the South Korea’s first and so far only openly gay celebrity and the country’s most representative gender minority in the entertainment sphere.

“I love visiting places that bring communities together. Gwangjang Market, a famous market in Seoul known for its food, textiles and handmade goods, did not disappoint!” he said on his Twitter account.

Emhoff also posted photos of his visit to the War Memorial of Korea.

“It was an honor to visit the War Memorial of Korea and remember the sacrifices made by Korean and U.S. forces,” he said in a Twitter post.

The U.S. Forces Korea’s Osan Air Base reported online that Emhoff also met with military personnel and their families.
