ULSAN, April 5 (Korea Bizwire) Ulju County of the southeastern city of Ulsan has launched an ambitious artificial pollination project for pear blossoms to assist pear farms during the flowering season.

The county held a drone demonstration for pollination last week.

It plans to test the drones on three pear farms for artificial pollination, and analyse the project’s fruit setting rate and how much it can save on labor costs.

Once the project is deemed successful, the county plans to expand the project to all pear farms next year.

It expects that artificial pollination using drones will maximize fruit setting, reduce labor, and raise income by reducing production costs.
