SEOUL, Apr. 17 (Korea Bizwire) — Ulsan HD FC midfielder Lee Dong-gyeong was named the top player for the first month of the South Korean football season Wednesday.
The Korea Professional Football League (K League) announced that Lee was voted the Player of the Month for March in the top-flight K League 1.
Lee led all players in March with six goal involvements, with four goals and two assists in four matches.
This is the eighth time an Ulsan player has won a Player of the Month award, the most in K League history. Lee had previously won it for October 2021.
Thanks to Lee’s offensive prowess, Ulsan are leading the K League 1 with 16 goals after seven matches this season. The two-time defending champions are third in the tables with 14 points, two back of Pohang Steelers.
The winner was chosen on votes by the K League’s technical study group (accounting for 60 percent), fans (25 percent) and players of “EA Sports FC Online” (15 percent) by Electronic Arts (EA) Sports, the league’s official video game partner.
Lee led three other candidates in all three categories, earning 22.11 percent of the votes from the K League, 14.22 percent of support from fans, and 9.26 percent of the votes from “FC Online” players.
