Underground Construction Site in Korea Collapses Causing Multiple Casualties

SEOUL, June 1 (Korea Bizwire) – On the morning of June 1, 7:20 a.m., an accident occurred at a metro construction site in Namyang-ju, northern Seoul, killing four on the site according to Yonhap news. The number of injuries has been confirmed as eight and others were transferred to a nearby hospital. 

Witnesses said there had been an explosive sound under the construction site, where 17 laborers had been working at near Geumgok-ri, Jinjeop-eup, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do.

Reportedly, an explosion of an oxygen tank might be to blame for the accident but the police investigators confirmed no explosives were being used today.

The accident occurred while the construction workers were working on a welding project.
