Undisclosed Lava Trail on Jeju‘s Geomun Oreum Opens for Public

JEJU, June 14 (Korea Bizwire)The “lava trail,” a undisclosed section within Jeju Island’s Geomun Oreum Lava Tube, will be open for five days.

The organizing committee of the International Geomun Oreum Trekking Festival said Tuesday it will host a trekking event for five days, from June 15 to 19.

The six-kilometer lava trail was formed by the flow of lava from Geomun Oreum. This path is typically off-limits to the public and is only accessible during the trekking period.

The trail passes through a forested area, providing visitors with an opportunity to experience the unique primeval forest of Gotjawal. This forest is characterized by a mix of tree vines and ferns growing on the rocks.

During the event, visitors can enjoy trekking free of charge without requiring advance reservations. To participate, they simply need to receive pre-visit guidance and admission tickets at the information center.

The trail opens at 9 a.m., and the entrance closes to new hikers at 1 p.m.
