Unemployed Moms Seek Jobs to Cover Living, Educational Outlays

SEOUL, Mar. 25 (Korea Bizwire)More than half of unemployed moms in South Korea want to find work to better cover living and education-related expenses for family members, a survey showed Monday.

According to the survey conducted by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs, 56.6 percent of the respondents said they want to work.

The findings were based on questions posed to 4,648 married women nationwide between 15 and 49 who currently are without employment.

The survey showed that 74.6 percent of the respondents said they wish to be employed.

By educational level, 29.6 percent of the moms with university diplomas said they are seeking jobs for self-realization.

Meanwhile, 29.4 percent of moms with high school diplomas said they are seeking jobs because they want to supplement the income of their husbands.
