SEOUL, Dec. 29 (Korea Bizwire)South Korea’s unification ministry on Wednesday said it has virtually recreated lost villages in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that existed prior to the 1950-1953 Korean War through a metaverse platform.

Some 400 villages were known to have existed in the DMZ, among which the ministry picked the largest ones for priority investigation.

Officials studied the literature on various regions inside the DMZ to locate the villages and find out about their distinctive features.

They also interviewed surviving former village residents and made on-site visits to locate the lost villages.
