BUSAN, Aug. 17 (Korea Bizwire)An old fishing port in Busan has transformed itself in artistic form, surprising visitors and residents alike.

On social media websites, Jangrim Port in Busan’s Saha-gu is now being dubbed “Bunezia,” which is a combination of the words “Busan” and “Venezia,” the Italian name for “Venice.”

The nickname was bestowed upon the Korean port city because of its similarity in beauty and elegance.

The transformation of Jangrim Port is still ongoing. Starting in 2012, approximately 7.2 billion won was injected into the community to establish a port, and build a promotional center and other basic facilities.

Since last year, the port has been given a makeover, turning it into perfect spot for theme tours.

Stepping into the port, visitors are instantly charmed by the exotic atmosphere, which is popular with people who are looking for that perfect selfie in a picturesque setting.

A clock tower and other artwork decorate the city, but the renovated port will also allow villagers to sell local treats and regional products to tourists.

The municipality hopes that Jangrim Port will become a major tourist attraction in Busan and a financial boon for locals, becoming a model for other ports that are looking to rejuvenate local economies.
