SEOUL, Oct. 22 (Korea Bizwire) “Thank you, Seoul, and hello my Vietnamese fans! Thank you so much for coming to my first concert here in South Korea!”

Jangchung Stadium was transformed into Korea’s little Hanoi as Phan Thi My Tam, Vietnam’s most famous diva, took the stage for her very first concert in Seoul.

The stadium bustled with Vietnamese students, immigrants, and people who flew all the way from Vietnam just to see the show.

More than 2,500 people filled the stadium, which is significant considering that V-Pop is less known in South Korea.

Tran Nguyen Tien, a student from Kyunghee University, said My Tam is “Vietnam’s best singer-song writer and everyone’s idol.”

“Seeing her in South Korea moves me very much. I brought all of my friends, even from Suwon,” she added.

My Tam rose to popularity after she won bronze at the Asia New Singer Competition in 2000. After a successful debut with her first album, Endless Love, which was released in 2001, she has since released nine albums and some 20 singles.

Her ninth album, My Tam9, in collaboration with South Korean composer Cho Seong-jin, made it to the top 10 on the Billboard Charts.

According to VN Express, a Vietnamese online news portal, My Tam delayed her concert so that Vietnamese fans could have enough time to acquire Korean visas.

It was also reported that several Korean companies bought tickets for their Vietnamese workers.

The two-hour concert flew by like a flash as My Tam captivated the crowd with her powerful voice and charm, wearing beautiful western dresses, Vietnamese Ao Dai, and Korean hanbok that mesmerized her fans.

“I would like to thank my fans who came all the way from Vietnam to see my show. I would also like to thank my South Korean fans for liking my songs. I will do my best to promote Vietnamese music in South Korea,” My Tam said.
